George Armogast Dies at Son's Home
Funeral at Early Sunday. - Other News Items From Early.

Early - Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 p. m. at the
Methodist Episcopal church of Early for George Edward Armogast, a well
known old resident of Sac county. The services were in charge of Rev. W.
N. Baker, pastor, and burial was made in the Early Union cemetery under
the direction of a Girard, Kansas, funeral home.
The pallbearers were well known friends of the deceased, namely:
Wesley Hirons, Ed Marvin, Beryl Baker, Arba Marquess, Harold Pullen and
Charles DeGarmo. Appropriate music was furnished by Arla Wadsley and
Jeanette Hiersche, with Mrs. Charlotte McDermitt pianist.
Mr. Armogast was born at Milan, Ill., Feb. 18, 1870, and died
July 22, 1938, aged 68 years 5 months and 4 days. He is the last
survivor of the Armogast family. The parents and three brothers
proceeding him in death a number of years ago.
He came here when he was a young man of 16 and made this his home
at intervals for a number of years, where he engaged in farming.
In 1892 he was united in marriage to Alice E. Thorpe, and to this
union five boys and one girl were born. One boy died in infancy. Mrs.
Armogast died February 1911. The living children by this union are Clair
and Frank of Liberty, Mo., Ed of Farlington, Kas., Walter of Dows, and
Mrs. Del Wolford of Early.
In 1914 he was married to Bertha May Cornell and to this union
three children were born, Deward and Peter of Kansas City and Lawrence
of Liberty, Mo. His wife died in 1923.
Mr. Armogast's illness began five years ago when he suffered a
stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. Numerous
strokes since affected his already weakened condition and for some time
of late he has been helpless, and has been confined to his bed since
August a year ago, at his son's home, and where his death occurred.

Auburn; Mr. and Charles Wolford and daughter Anna Marie and Miss Lusher of Newell.
