Death Claims Miss Ayers, 80
Taylor Ridge -- Miss Elizabeth Ayers, 80, who resided with a nephew
and niece, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Verschoore, Taylor Ridge, died there at 7
o'clock this morning. Seriously ill only three days, she had been in
failing health the past three years.
A resident of the Taylor Ridge community almost here entire life,
she was born in Davenport, Dec. 9, 1868 a daughter of Patrick and Ellen Ayers.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, Edgington, and
the altar society of that parish.
Miss Ayers had resided with the Verschoore family the past 17
years. She formerly lived with the late Mrs. P. L. McManus of Taylor Ridge.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard of Shannon City, Iowa, and
Martin of Viola, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Barnes of Preemption. She was
preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
The body was removed to the Wheelan funeral home, Rock Island,
and will be returned to the Verschoore residence at 10:30 o'clock
tomorrow morning. The rosary will be recited in the residence at 8
o'clock tomorrow night. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 o'clock
Wednesday morning in St. Ambrose Catholic church, Milan, Burial will be
in St. Joseph cemetery, Preemption. (September, 1949) |
