Rita Ayers
Rita Ann Ayers, 57, of Lynn Center died Thursday, May 2, 2002,
at her home following an extended illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl
Funeral Home, Orion, with the Rev. Greg H. Moore officiating. Burial
will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5
p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
Rita was born April 6, 1945, in Brunswick, Mo. to Daisy Lang. She
married Ron Ayers Jan. 28, 1994, in Milan.
She worked at Sherrard Post Office and ran her own business,
Video Connection, Orion. She enjoyed antiques and gardening.
Rita, with her husband, was raising three chosen daughters,
Viola, Tammy and Tina, which brought her great joy.
Survivors (and spouses) include her mother; husband, Ron;
daughters, Tina (Kenneth) Spilker, Cambridge, and Terri Warden, Lynn
Center; son, Ted Sickler, Moline; stepchildren, Mike Ayers, Moline, and
Denise McAtee, Lynn Center; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
brothers, Richard Syler and Jim Searcy, both of Missouri; sisters,
Marcella (Richard) Smith, Moline, Joyce Ross, Texas, and Mary Melton and
Valerie Slaughter, both of Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and niece
and caregiver Amee Allen. She was preceded in death by brothers, Jarold
Eugene and twins Denny and Danny Searcy; and children, Valerie Sue and
Timothy Ray Warden.
