Funeral Services Held Saturday for Mrs. Anna Barnes
Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Anna E. Barnes,
78, of New Windsor who died Wednesday, July 12, 1961 at the home of her
sisters, Elizabeth and Florence Dowd, in Aledo. Mrs. Barnes had been ill
since February.
Services were at 9 a.m. at St. Catherine's Roman Catholic church
with the Rev. C. M. Meyer, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the St.
Joseph's cemetery.
The Reiser Funeral Home in Aledo was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barnes, born April 18, 1883 near Aledo, was the former Anna
E. Doud. She received her education in the rural schools and on February
26, 1919 was married to Joe Barnes in Aledo.
They farmed for more than 30 years east of Aledo. Mr. Barnes died in 1957.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of St. Catherine's church and the Rosary societies.
Survivors include a son, Bernard, of New Windsor; two
grandchildren, four sisters, the Misses Elizabeth and Florence Dowd,
Mrs. Warren Ray and Mrs. Riley Fender, all of Aledo; and a brother,
William of East Moline.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
