Florence Barnes
Florence C. Barnes, 105, Aledo, formerly of Reynolds, died
Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine's Catholic
Church, Aledo. Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery, Preemption Township.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Family Funeral Services, Aledo,
with a rosary recited at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church or
Mercer County Nursing Home.
She was born March 20, 1894, in Davenport, the daughter of Robert
L. and Julia A. Kealey Mallette. She married Raymond Barnes Jan. 9,
1918, in Preemption. He died March 26, 1986.
She graduated from the former Villa de Chantal in Rock Island in
1913. She was a teacher and homemaker.
She was a member of Mercer County Farm Bureau Women's Auxiliary,
past president of Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary Post 1166, and a
member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Shirley
Barnes, Aledo, and R. Thomas Barnes, St. Cloud, Fla.; nine
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, a brother, four sisters and a grandson.

Catholic Church of Aledo with the Fr. G.J. Plunkett and the Fr. Richard
Slavish officiating. The organist will be Sheila Herman. Pallbearers are
Patrick Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Andrew Barnes, Michael Barnes and
Jerry Shinners. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Preemption
Township. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Family Funeral Services in
Aledo. A Rosary was 8 p.m., Tuesday at Family Funeral Services.

daughter of Robert L. and Julia A. Kealey Mallette. She married Raymond
Barnes Jan. 9, 1918, in Preemption. He died March 29, 1986.
Florence is a graduate from the former Villa De Chantal in Rock
Island in 1913. She was a teacher and homemaker.
