James Barry
Died in Creston.
James Barry died at his home at 304 South Division street in Creston,
Friday, October 18, 1916, aged nearly 93 years. The body was brought to
Corning Saturday and taken to Reno where funeral services were held in
the Catholic church Tuesday morning at 10:00, and interment was made in
the Reno cemetery. Rev. Father Stevens, of Creston, conducted the services.
Mr. Barry was born October 31, 1823 in Ireland. He was married in his
native country and then came to America, locating in New York, where he
spent several years before coming to Iowa. He was a resident of Massena,
Iowa for some years and about fifteen years ago went to Creston to make
his home. He is survived by his wife and six children, three sons and
three daughters. The children are James Barry, Jr., of Massena, Iowa;
Patrick of the state of Washington; Michael of Massena; Mrs. James
Cullen and Mrs. Tom Waters of Massena, Iowa; Mrs. Sarah Hatton, of
Corning. Mr. Barry had a large circle of friends who were grieved to
learn of his demise. He passed away at about 11:50 Friday morning,
having suffered a severe stroke of apoplexy at about 7:30 that morning.
