John Edward Barry
John Edward Barry, the son of Michael and Julia McConkay,
Barry, was born in Corning, Iowa, July 21, 1905 and passed away at the
Colonial Manor Care Center in Corning, August 18, 1981, at the age of 76
years and 28 days.
He spent his early years in Massena, Iowa, and graduated from the
Massena High School. He was an aeronautic mechanic by trade and spent
four years in the Army Air Corp in the Pacific Sector during World War
II. When he returned home, he was employed at the Norton Greenhouse
& Floral Shop until he retired.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors are his two sisters, Bernadine Barry Rusco and her
husband Royal of Bedford. Iowa, and their son Jim Rusco and his wife
Sonnie; and his sister Helen Barry Mack and her son Richard Mack and her
daughter Barbara Mack, all of Des Moines, Iowa, and by her daughter
Carolyn Mack Kordick and her husband Robert Kordick of Darien, Ct. and
their children, Mark and Anne Marie. Also surviving is his uncle, Claude
Roth of Des Moines. Iowa.
Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corning
August 20 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. John F. Kovacs officiating.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Corning, Iowa.
Casket bearers were Richard Mack, Jim Rusco, Steve Bell, Joe
Jones, Dan Seaton and John Jones Altar servers were Tom Cruise and Mark
Kordick. Organ music was provided in Eleanor Kelly.
