Julia E. Barry
Julia Etta Barry, daughter of Samuel and Urbena McConkay, was
born in Corning, Iowa on September 23, 1881. She passed away February
19, 1964 at the age of 82 years, four months and 26 days.
On May 29, 1904 she was married to Michael E. Barry in St.
Patrick church in Corning. To this union three children, John E. Barry
of Corning, Helen K. Mack of Des Moines and Bernadine M. Rusco of Lenox were born.
Michael and Julia Barry were in the furniture and undertaking business
in Massena for many years while their family was growing up. Julia was
active in the work of St. Patrick church, the school and community.
She made many friends and acquaintances there. Twelve years ago
Mr. and Mrs. Barry retired in Lenox.
She was preceded in death by her husband four years ago. She
leaves to mourn her passing her three children; four grandchildren,
Richard r, Carolyn and Barbara Mack and Jimmy Joe Rusco of the U.S.
Navy; two brothers, John W. McConkay of Upland, California and Samuel R.
McConkay of Corning; one sister, Mrs. Claude E. (Lara) Roth of Turlock,
California; many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Requiem Mass was sung Saturday, February 22, 1964 at 10 a.m.
from St. Patrick church in Lenox with Fr. Neto Leto officiating,
Pallbearers were Hubert Barry, Emmett Barry, Wilbur Barry, James Waters,
Merlin Holate and Dr. Edward Cullen. Interment was in Calvary cemetery, Corning.
