Ivan K. Beck
Ivan K. Beck, 88, was born Jan, 1, 1905, at Corning, Iowa, to
George L. and Bertha (Kurtz) Beck. He died at the Good Samaritan Center
in Red Oak Thursday, May 20, 1993, after a lengthy illness.
He was raised and farmed in the Corning community.
He married Velma Conaway July 27, 1932, in Corning. They lived in
California 20 years where he worked for the Phelps Dodge Copper Plant.
They moved to Red Oak in July of 1975.
Mr. Beck was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Red Oak,
Instruction Lodge #275 AF & AM more than 50 years; Royal Arch #77,
and a Past High Priest; charter member of the De Molay, Order of Easter
Star #64; and was a Past Patron all in Corning. He also was a member of
the Union Shrine #23 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem where he was a
Past Watchman of Shepherds in Creston. He was the first state secretary
of Boys 4-H clubs of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers David and Lawrence.
He is survived by his wife Velma of Red Oak.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, at the
Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home in Red Oak, with Rev. Gary Ferbet
officiating. Masonic graveside rites were by Instruction Lodge #275 AF
& AM of Corning. Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Coming.
Memorials are directed to the Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.
Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home in Red Oak was in charge of services.
