Eleanor Bigham

  Eleanor Bigham, 76, of Aledo, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.
  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, where Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary will conduct services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be left to the Mercer County VFW Post 1571.
  She was born June 29, 1926, in rural Rock Island County, a daughter of Edward and Mildred Sackville Schmidt. She graduated from Aledo High School. She married Richard D. Bigham May 23, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgington.
  Eleanor was a homemaker and mother. In 1980 she was employed at Bigham Floor Covering, Aledo, and in 1982 she operated the Sears Catalog Division of the store, retiring in 1990.
  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary.
  She enjoyed decorating her home, crossword puzzles, yard work, and especially being with her family and grandchildren.
  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Mike Anderson, Little York, and Julie and Bob Harrison, and Jayne and Don Fitzsimmons, all of Aledo; sons, Jeff and Kathy Bigham, Jerry and Gina Bigham, Jim and Susie Bigham, John and Pat Bigham, all of Aledo; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eileen Bivens, Aledo, Genevieve Parchert, Buffalo Prairie, Virginia Padesky, Moline, and Judy Bieri, Illinois City; sisters-in-law, Pauline Schmidt and Kate Leng, both of Aledo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter, Debra K. Anderson; and a brother, Vaughn Schmidt.
