Patricia Ann Bissell
Patricia Ann Bissell, 47, daughter of Albert and Clara
Pendleton Hogan, was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Omaha, Neb., and died
unexpectedly Sept. 22, 1991, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
She was reared on a farm southeast of Corning, attended Mercer
Center #5 grade school, and graduated from Corning High School in 1961.
She lived most of her life in Adams County.
She had been employed as an optometric assistant and bookkeeper
for Dr. G.R. McAlpin in Corning for more than 18 years and was a member
of the Iowa Association and National Association of Optometric Assistants.
She was also a member of St. Patrick Church and Altar Society and
Business and Professional Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Olive.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife Rosie, and
Chris Bissell, all of Corning; a daughter Jerri Larson and her husband
Rob of Council Bluffs; a brother, John Hogan and his wife Kathy of
Prescott; six sisters, Sharon Bissen and her husband Ted of Memphis,
Tenn., Marcella Gearheart and her husband Phil of Corning; Helen Chute
of Petaluma, Calif., Theresa Durkin of Des Moines, Cathy Luther and her
husband Alan of Urbandale, and Jackie Brandon of Charles City; and one granddaughter.
Services were Sept. 25 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning
with the Rev. John Bertogli officiating. Casket bearers were Phil
Gearheart, Alan Luther, Rob Larson, Mike Larson, Mike Stargell and Ted
Bissen. Honorary bearers were Dr. George McAlpin, Jack Kretzinger,
Joshua Luther, Jeff Skelton, Dan Carl, Tom Olive, Tim Cooney and Mike Bissen.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in
charge of the arrangements.
