Deanna Blackley

  Deanna J. Blackley, 62, of Glidden Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a long illness.
  Mass of the Christian burial was held this morning, Monday, Sept. 17, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with the Rev. Peter Duc Nyugen as celebrant. Lector was Jerry Mathine. Gift bearers were grandchildren Megan and Matthew Blackley.
  Casket bearers were Jack Moorman, Ed Swain, Don Wiederin, Don Pottroff, Norman Soyer and Byron Nair. Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren.
  Burial was in Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton.
  She was born Dec. 13, 1938, at Carroll, a daughter of Lawrence and Delores (Loneman) Zacker. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1956 then worked at Mutual of Omaha Insurance in Omaha, Neb., for two years.
  She and Romayne Blackley were married June 21, 1958, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Father Peckas as celebrant.
  Mrs. Blackley resided in the Ralston and Glidden communities most of her life. She was a homemaker and taught ceramics at New Hope Village in Carroll for 10 years.
  She enjoyed playing cards and computer games. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and Ladies Guild in Glidden. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the Glidden Birthday Bunch and The Pinochle Club for many years.
  Survivors include her husband, Romayne, of Glidden, Iowa; three sons and their wives: David and Peg Blackley of Atlanta, Ga., Jeff and Angela Blackley of Mason City and Mike and Monica Blackley of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; her mother, Delores "Dee" Baumhover, of Carroll; a sister, Marsha Simons, and her husband, Dick, of Glidden; two brothers: Jack Zacker and his wife, Ann, of Carroll and Kenneth Baumhover of Carroll; and her father, Lawrence Zacker, and his wife, Bev, of Oregon.
  Mrs. Blackley was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Howard and Dorothy Blackley; and her stepfather, Clarence Baumhover.
