Edgar Boney
Funeral services for Edgar E. Boney, well-known Aledo businessman,
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Aledo United Methodist Church. The
Rev. John Crede will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Aledo United Methodist
Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edgar E. Boney
Memorial Fund, Serenity Hospice or your favorite charity. Burial with
Masonic graveside rites will be in Aledo Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home,
Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.
Edgar died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo,
after a courageous battle with cancer.
Edgar was born on Dec. 30, 1928, to Elliott L. and Mergie L. (Smith)
Boney in Perryton Township, Mercer County, Ill. He was a 1946 graduate
of the former Reynolds High School.
Edgar was united in marriage to Carol Ann Mungerson on Aug. 19, 1956, in
Joy, Ill. From this union two children were born, Mike and Drue. Edgar
and Carol Ann resided in the Aledo area all of their married life.
Edgar was a dedicated businessman. He opened Boney's Farm Store in 1949
and watched it grow and progress for 51 years.
Edgar was a member of Aledo United Methodist Church, Buffalo Prairie
Masonic Lodge and Aledo Kiwanis. He was a former member of Aledo Jaycees
and a former director of Amcore Bank.
Edgar was a dedicated Aledo Green Dragon football fan and supporter. He
also enjoyed playing cards.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; son and daughter-in-law, Mike
and Brenda Boney of Aledo; daughter and son-in-law, Drue and Perry
Baugher of Aledo; grandchildren, Michelle, Justin, Blair, Kate, Eric,
Colten and Dakota; sisters and their husbands, Donna Mae and Payo
Komadino of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Phyllis Ann and Lowell
Titterington of Taylor Ridge; a sister-in-law and her husband, Patsy and
Omer Deeds Jr. of Joy; a brother-in-law and his wife, Don and Donna
Mungerson of Cambridge; and his mother-in-law, Fern Mungerson of Aledo.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and many close friends. Edgar
was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Wilbert Mungerson.
