Brennan
At 10:00 o'clock yesterday morning funeral rites for Mrs. Daniel
Brennan, age 76, were conducted in St. Anthony's Catholic church at
Matherville with the Rev. J. T. Shields of Aledo officiating. Burial
was made at St. Joseph's cemetery in Preemption.
Mrs. Brennan died at 1:30 a.m., Jan. 30, in the home a mile
west of Preemption village, after a lingering illness.
Besides the widower, she is survived by two daughters, Mary at
home and Mrs. Ella Edwards of Chicago; two sons, Daniel at home
and John of Andover; four grandchildren; a brother, Thomas J. Hayes of
Edgington; and a sister, Mrs. Edward McDonald of Kelliher, Minn. A
daughter Grace and a sister Miss Johanna Hayes had preceded her in death.
Ellen Hayes, a daughter of John T. and Mary Hayes, was born in
Edgington town on Oct. 14, 1863, and was married to Daniel Brennan on
March 17, 1898 by the Rev. Father Murtaugh in St. Patrick's church at Edgington.
The couple has since resided on a farm in Preemption where Mrs.
Brennan was a member of St. Joseph's church. She will be
affectionately remembered by those who knew her as a home loving
