Marguerite Bridger
Services for Marguerite Bridger, 93, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of
the Viola and Aledo area, are 11 a.m. Thursday at Family Funeral
Services, Viola. Burial is in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Bridger died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Micasa Nursing
Center, Mesa, Ariz.
She was born Feb. 15, 1907, in Sherrard, the daughter of James
and Elizabeth E. Pears Child. She married Henry G. Bridger Feb. 25,
1925, in Aledo. He died Jan. 19, 1973.
She graduated from Matherville High School and the Fox River
Academy, Sheridan, Ill.
She was raised and educated in Matherville, where her family
moved in 1909. She married Henry Bridger and moved to Aledo, where they
farmed. They moved to New Windsor in 1946, farming in the Viola, New
Windsor and Swedona areas. She then retired from the farm and moved to
Aledo in 1995.
She was a member of Home Extension and Seventh-day Adventist
Church, Aledo, where she was pianist and leader of the Dorcas Society.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, tatting and gardening.
Survivors (and spouses) include daughters, Nellie Rose Greer, Aledo,
Marguerite Scott, Seward, Neb., Carol E. (Larry) Kurtz, Mesa, Ariz.,
Iris (Richard) Kruger, Toronto, Canada, and Verna (Richard) Doake, Round
Lake, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas H. (Eileen) Bridger,
Hoffman Estates, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and a grandson.
