Nancy R. Bridger

Nancy Rosalia Brown, second daughter of George S .and Sophronia Brown, was born in Ohio Grove Township, Mercer County, Illinois, Sept 8, 1875, and died at her late home in Suez township after a brief but severe illness, Friday morning at 1:45 o'clock. Her childhood was spent in the vicinity of her birth, she being the second of a family of 11 children two of whom are deceased and whose names in order of their ages are as follows: The oldest, deceased;third child Samuel A., who resides in Ohio Grove township; Mrs Plummer Smith of Ohio Grove; A.W. Brown, Riverside, Illinois; Bell and Milton at home; Lueretia Leo Longmont, Colo.; infant, deceased; Esther and Martha at home. The deceased was married January 6, 1897, to Wm. J. Bridger of Suez township, and to this union were born five children: Gladys J., Garnette Eulalia, Henry George, Avis Endora, and James Wray. Rose, as she was familiarly called by her friends, was naturally of a bright and cheerful disposition, and always had a kind word and a pleasant smile for all. On the 21st of February she complained of not feeling well, but attended to her daily duties, but later grew worse and medical aid was summoned and her many friends came in to minister to her wants and although every effort was made to alleviate her suffering and prolong her life she grew gradually worse until the end. The funeral services were held at the Suez church, Rev. Davis officiating, and the Suez choir, of which Mrs. Bridger was formerly a member, rendering the music. Six cousins were pall bearers. The remains were interred in the Bridger cemetery. Thus ends a noble and useful pilgrimage in this world only to be taken up and continued brighter, better, truer and nobler in the spirit realm. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community this dark hour.
