| William H. Bridger WILLIAM HENRY BRIDGER, eldest son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Bridger, was born in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, November 15, 1823, and died at his home in Suez, May 27, 1908, aged 84 years 6 months 12 days. Mr. Bridger came to Illinois with his parents in the fall of *1886 (*correct year was 1836) and settled in Section 35 in Green township. In the spring of 1841, they built a house on Section 2 in Suez township to which they removed and resided until his death. He was sick about four and one half months and his death was not unexpected. He leaves three brothers, Henry T. and James C. of Suez, Philip T. of Mendon, Missouri and one sister, Mrs. Frances A. Sedwick of Suez to mourn his death. The funeral services were conducted from the late home, Friday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Fleming officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the Bridger Cemetery. (Aledo Democrat, June 9, 1908) Bridger-William H., one of the oldest pioneer settlers of this
part of the state, died at his home this morning, May 27, 1908. He was
age 84 years and lived at the same homestead for 66 years. He was quite
a character in many respects and had the highest respect and love of the
community. He was a man of simple life, yet fairly well educated and
always looked up to and respected. He was classed as a well-to-do farmer
and stock raiser and also operated a blacksmith shop on his premises in
his younger days. His parents were of English descent and he was born in
*England (*error) He leaves one brother, Henry, and a sister, Mrs. D.W.
Sedwick of this community. The funeral service will be held at residence
