Mrs. Mary Brinkman

  Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Brinkman, 86, of Early, mother of Tom and Leo Brinkman of Carroll, were held at 9:30 Thursday morning at Sacred Heart Church in Early. The Rev. Robert O'Reilly officiated at the requiem high mass.
  Burial was in the parish cemetery there. Pallbearers were Ray Naberhaus, Bill Dick, Francis Gard, Bill Faber, Henry Dahm and Joe Hunstock.
  Acolytes were Michael Mason and David Brinkman, grandsons of Mrs. Brinkman, and Roy Wiseman, Billy Merten and James Smith.
  Mrs. Brinkman died Oct. 25 in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Hurley, at Mason City. She had been in poor health for some time and had been cared for in the Hurley home the past year.
  Mary Ellen Brinkman was born in Chicago, Ill., Oct. 9, 1868. When a child, she moved to Charlotte, Iowa, where she received her education. She taught school for several years in Clinton County, Iowa, and Nebraska.
  On Feb. 17, 1890, she was married to Jacob Brinkman of Charlotte. Two years later, they moved to Sac County and settled on a farm one and one-fourth miles southeast of Early, where they lived until 1933, when they retired and moved to Early. Mr. Brinkman died Oct, 22, 1936.
  Survivors include three sons: Tom and Leo, Carroll, and Edmund, Early: three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Kathryn) Hurley and Mrs. M. L. (Genevieve) Mason, Mason City, and Mrs. Helena Fuller, Early; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
