John J. Broich
Willey - John J. Broich, 85, a retired Willey farmer, died
early Thursday, January 26, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, January 28, at St. Mary Church in Willey with the Rev. Peter
Fransco as celebrant. A grandson, Brian Heithoff, will be lector;
gift-bearers will be granddaughters: Barb Langel, Sharon Snyder, Marita
and Lori Broich and mass-servers will be grandsons, Wayne, Scott and Jim
Heithoff and Kevin Broich. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Serving as casketbearers will be grandsons: Kevin Langel, Allen Broich,
Terry Klocke, Joe, David and Mike Broich.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30
p.m. Friday. Rosaries will be recited at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., the latter
by the parish and Knights of Columbus, and a scriptural prayer service
will be conducted at 8:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Broich is survived by five sons: Robert, Gray; Thomas and
Clayton, Carroll; Jerome, Roselle, and John Broich Jr., Carroll; four
daughters: Mrs. Dale (Marilyn) Snyder, Breda; Mrs. Vernon (Delores)
Langel, Omaha; Mrs. Ronald (Joleen) Klocke, Coon Rapids, and Mrs. Denis
(Laurel Jean) Heithoff, Willey; 40 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren; four brothers: Vincent Mount Carmel; Anton,
Carroll; Mike, Lake City, and Alfred Broich, Willey, and three sisters:
Mrs. Dave (Clara) Pudenz, Lidderdale; Mrs. Hubert (Victoria) Dorpinghaus,
Coon Rapids, and Mrs. Albert (Lena) Beyerink, Coon Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on Jan. 25, 1983; a
son, Marvin; two grandchildren: Mike Snyder and Nancy Klocke; two
brothers: Frank and Hubert, and a sister, Caroline.
Mr. Broich was born December 31, 1898, at Wilmont, Minn., a son
of Theodore and Caroline Werner Broich. He came as a child with his
parents to the Willey area and attended schools in the Willey community.
On October 21, 1924, he was married to Emilia Neppl at St. Mary Church
in Willey by the Rev. Msgr. M.A. Schemel. After their marriage they
farmed in the Willey area until 1959 when they retired and moved into Willey.
They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October of
1974. Since December of 1980, he had been a resident of the nursing
home. He was a member of St. Mary Parish, Holy Name Society and was an
honorary life member of Charles Carroll Council, Knights of Columbus.
