Francis Patrick Bruty dies at Washington home
Francis Patrick Bruty, 82, of 415 South Avenue D in Washington
died at his home Monday, Feb 14, 1977. He had been in failing health the past year.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Catholic
Church with the Revs. T. J. Lew and Jonathan C. Simmons in charge.
Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in
Sherman-Eden Funeral Home.
Mr. Bruty was born at Ainsworth Feb. 20, 1894, a son of Frank
Xavior and Florence Jane Swift Bruty. He was reared in Washington County
and married Jul 30, 1917 to Katheryn Louise Eagle. He was a lifelong
resident in the county and a member of the St. James Catholic Church. He
had retired from the Rock Island Railroad in 1949 after being employed
as a bridge carpenter and had been a carpenter all his life.
Mrs. Bruty died in April of 1967.
Surviving are three sons: Wilbur J. of Franklin Park, Ill., Henry
F. of Kansas City, Kansas; Charles P. of Washington; five daughters:
Mrs. J. Frank (Jane) Gabriel of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Henry
(Geraldine) Priebe of Davenport, Mrs. Robert E. (Theresa) Scranton of
Muscatine, Mrs. Richard D. (Mary) Brown of Washington, Mrs. Kermit L.
(Patricia) Farrier of Ottumwa; 32 grandchildren and 37
great-grandchildren.
