Mrs. Jane Bruty, 86, Dies This Morning
Mrs. Jane Florence Bruty, 86, died at 6 a.m. today at her
home, 720 North Marion Avenue. She had suffered a stroke January 25, 1956.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, in St.
James Catholic Church with Rev. R. J. Kinnavey in charge. Burial will be
in Elm Grove cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at the family residence at 7:30 p.m.
Monday. The body will be taken from Sherman's Funeral Home to the family
home Sunday morning.
Jane Florence Swift was born June 11, 1896 in Oneida, Ill, the
daughter of Martin and Mary (Gavin) Swift. She moved with her parents to
northwest of Ainsworth when a child and attended rural and St. James
parochial schools.
On Sept. 22, 1892 she was married to Frank X. Bruty who died March 1, 1934.
Following their marriage they live on a farm east of Ainsworth.
For five years they lived in Ainsworth and operated a hotel before
coming to the Washington community. They lived most of the time on a
farm south of Washington until moving here in 1931.
Survivors include these sons and daughters: Francis Bruty, Leo
Bruty, Mrs. Joe Hines, Mrs. Alex Gevock, William Bruty and Walter Bruty,
all of Washington; Kathleen Bruty of Vinton, Sister Mary St. Lucille of
Los Angeles, Mrs. Walter Schoenfelder of Oakdale, Iowa.
Also surviving are 35 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one
half-brother, Richard Swift of Davenport.
Three children died in infancy. Five brothers and two sisters also are deceased.
