Kathleen A. Bruty dies today
Kathleen A. Bruty, 76, of 1038 North Seventh Avenue in
Washington died this morning, August 8, 1975 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa
City. She had been in failing health for three years.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic
Church here, with the Rev. Edward Shepherd in Charge. Burial will be in
Elm Grove Cemetery. Rosary will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in Sherman-Eden Funeral Home.
Miss Bruty was born in Ainsworth Sept. 18, 1898, a daughter of
Frank and Jane Swift Bruty. She was reared here and attended UNI at
Cedar Falls and the University of Iowa. She had been employed by the
Benton County Welfare Office for 20 years and prior to that taught
school for 25 years, 14 of those at West Chester. She was a member of
St. James Catholic Church.
Surviving are a brother, Francis of Washington; four sisters:
Mrs. Joseph (Marguerite) Hines, Mrs. Alex (Dorothy) Gevock of
Washington, Sister Mary St. Lucille, Mount Carmel, Dubuque, and Mrs.
Walter (Lucy) Schoenfelder of Oakdale; also a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leo,
William and Walter; and three sisters in infancy.
