Etta Candor
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Etta Candor, 95, formerly of
705 East Main St., Aledo, were held Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at
the Reiser-Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. The Rev. James R. Carbaugh,
pastor of College Avenue Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in
Candor Cemetery, Ohio Grove Township.
Memorials were made to the Candor Cemetery or the Mercer County
Nursing Home.
Martha Etta Kinnamon was born Feb. 28, 1888 in Abington Township,
Mercer County, the daughter of James Alex and Mary Seaton Kinnamon. She
married David Bopps Candor March 26, 1913 in Ohio Grove Township. He
died Nov. 2, 1964.
She was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church and the
Women's Association of the church; a charter member of the Ohio Grove
Unit of the Mercer County Homemaker's Extension; and a lifetime member
of the Forsythe Neighborhood C.C. Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John (Kathryn) Cumming, and
Mrs. James (Mildred) Hemphill, both of Aledo; a sister, Mrs. Helen McCaw,
Galesburg; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and
four brothers.
