Died While Visiting Sister

Mrs. F. F. Christenson of Idaho Pneumonia Victim

Mrs. Chas. H. Collins, of Schaller Until Lately, Died in Buena Vista, Three Other Deaths

Schaller. October 30. - Last Thursday evening Oct. 24 the community was grieved to hear that Mrs. F. F. Christenson had passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. J. Adams, after illness of only a few days with acute pneumonia. Just three weeks ago she came from her home in Pocatello, Idaho for an extended visit with relatives and friends in Sac county. Everything possible that loving hands could do was done, but of no avail, and she passed into that other world before her husband could reach her, he arriving Sunday morning. The funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Adams home, Rev. Mr. Fleming of the Presbyterian church in charge. Interment was made in the Early cemetery.
Agnes Julia Thorpe was born near Early, Iowa April 13, 1887 and died at the age of 32 years, 6 months and 11 days. She was reared to womanhood at Early and when about 18 became a member of the Presbyterian church of that place. Later she came to Schaller and made her home with her sister, Mrs. J. J. Adams, and was an efficient helper for a couple years in Mr. Christenson's restaurant, afterwards clerking in the J. A. Murray & Sons general store. She was united in marriage on July 23, 1914 to Mr. Fred Christenson of Cheyenne, Wyo., her former employer. After her marriage she with her husband moved to the west, finally settling at Pocatello which has been their home since 1915. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Frank James, aged three and a baby 2 days old; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Thorpe, and six brothers, Leo, Lisle, Francis, Roland and Lamont, all of Early and Merrill, of Lake View; two sisters, Mrs. May Level of Nemaha and Mrs. Lillie Adams of Schaller; an aged grandmother; and many other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Christenson was a fond and loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a general favorite among her favorites.

Burial of Mrs. Christenson

The people of Early were both surprised and saddened when the news was received of the death of Mrs. Fred Christenson on last Thursday evening at Schaller, following a short illness with pneumonia. While the general quarantine conditions forbade a public funeral and the inclemency of the weather kept many relatives from attending, brief services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. Mr. Fleming, pastor of the Presbyterian church, at the home of Mrs. Christensen's sister., Mrs. Jesse Adams, and the remains were brought to Early and laid to rest in the Early cemetery. Agnes Thorpe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thorpe of Early was born on the Felt farm just west of Nemaha, on April 13, 1887 and was married to Fred Christenson July 23, 1914. To them were born two sons, Frank, now three years of age, and an infant son. Mrs. Christenson's education was received in the rural schools and Early public school. For some time previous to her marriage she proved an efficient clerk at Early and Schaller. She was a young woman of high ideals and was a true friend. Soon after her marriage she and her husband went to Idaho to live on a farm. About three weeks ago she returned home for a visit with home folks, intending to stay until spring. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, two little sons, her father, mother, two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Level of Nemaha and Mrs. Jesse Adams of Schaller, and six brothers, all residing in Early with the exception of Merrill Thorpe of Lake View, and an aged grandmother, besides uncles, aunts and many other relatives. The unexpected invasion of this home by the Death Angel brings sorrow to a large circle of friends who knew and loved this young wife and mother. The husband, upon learning of his wife's fatal illness, started east at once, arriving Saturday evening.
