John M. Clark
John M. Clark, 89, of rural Arenzville, died Sunday, August
17, 2008, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born
November 7, 1918, in Bridgeport, Kentucky, the son of H.S. and Mary
Hamilton Clark. He married Lois Brasell on May 27, 1939, at the United
Methodist Church in Winchester, and she survives. He is also survived by
one daughter, Sue (husband, Wayne) McLennan of Quincy; one son, Robert
(wife, Donna) Clark of Champaign; five grandchildren, Sean (wife, Sheri)
McLennan of Marshall, Aaron (wife, Shelly) McLennan of Camp Point, Scott
McLennan of Roxana, Andrew (wife, Kara) Clark of Westfield, Indiana, and
Brian (wife, Lindsay) Clark of Carmel, Indiana; eleven
great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Lou Penza and
Ruby Willingham (surviving husband, Nelson of Paris, Missouri), and two
brothers, Ralph Clark and Robert Clark (surviving wife, Roberta of Urbana.)
Mr. Clark spent his entire life farming in the Arenzville
community. He was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church,
where he served on the church council, Planning Committee, was Financial
Secretary, and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member of
Lutheran Men in Mission and a charter member of the National Cattlemen’s Association.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday,
August 21, 2008, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 9876 St. Peter’s
Road, near Arenzville, with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Friends
may call after 12 Noon on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home,
where family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
