John Clarke
Services for John W. Clarke, 92, of Rock Island, are 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Elder Paul Lindburg and Elder
Ken Rundle will officiate. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline,
where Aledo Lodge 252, AF and AM will conduct Masonic services at 7:30
p.m. Memorials may be made to Community of Christ Church, Moline, or the
activities fund at Heartland Health Care Center.
Mr. Clarke died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
He was born June 24, 1909, near Aledo, the son of William H. and
Adeline Rathbun Clarke. He married Winifred Welch Dec. 31, 1937, in Maquoketa, Iowa.
He was an assembler at John Deere Plow-Planter Works, Moline, for
29 years, retiring in 1971.
He was a 50-year member of Aledo Lodge 252, AF and AM and
attended Community of Christ Church, Moline. He loved being with people
and helping people, and enjoyed yard work and gardening.
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Winifred; brother,
Robert F. Clarke, Alpha; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Patricia
and John Hemminger, Geneseo, Robert and Bette Clarke, Colona, Richard
and Janice Clarke, Woodhull, and Diane and Cliff Vogel, Oshkosh, Wis.;
and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by
a brother, David Clarke, and sisters, Alice Clarke and Margaret Eldridge.
