William Vincent Colgan

William Vincent Colgan passed from this life at about 8:30 o'clock Sunday night, January 15, 1922, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Colgan, in west Corning. He was nearly 40 years old. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning January 17, 1922, at St. Patrick's Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Father Richard Dollard. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Colgan was born in Stark county, Illinois, January 27, 1882, lacking only a few days of reaching his 40th anniversary. With his parents he resided about five years in Hoopeston, Ill., and from there the family came to Adams county, locating on a farm a mile and a half northeast of Iveyville, and with the exception of three years spent near Cromwell, Adams county has been the home of the deceased gentleman since the family first located near Iveyville. A year ago in February the family returned to Adams county, locating in Corning.
Mr. Colgan is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Colgan; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Hill, of Corning; Mrs. John Curry, near Corning, and Miss Cecelia Colgan, at home; three brothers, Arthur Colgan, south of Corning; James Colgan, of Seattle, Wash., who was unable to attend the funeral; and Raymond Colgan, at home. Two brothers, Barney and Johnnie Colgan, died in infancy and another Charles, passed away at Iveyville at about two and a half years of age. William Colgan was well known in Corning and had a large circle of friends, who deeply regret his illness and passing from this life and extend heartfelt sympathy to his loved ones in their sorrow. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Thomas Colgan and his five daughters and three sons, from Pacific Junction; and from Wyoming, Ill., Johnnie Colgan and his sister, Miss Mary Colgan, and his son-in-law, John Moran; Mrs. Colgan's brother, John McGinn; a cousin, William Colgan; Mrs. Sarah Crangle and sister, Miss Rose Colgan, and Mrs. Peter Colgan.
