Charles J. Conway

  Funeral services for Charles J. Conway, 95, of Aledo, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Aledo. The Rev. C.M. Meyer, pastor, officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Preemption Township, under the direction of the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.
  Mr. Conway died Thursday night, May 25, in his home.
  Mr. Conway was born March 14, 1883, in Preemption Township, the son of Thomas R. and Ella Kehoe Conway. He received his education in Mercer County and attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport.
  He married Anna Crady Sept. 1, 1917, in Melrose, Iowa.
  Mr. Conway was a farmer and a livestock breeder from 1901 to 1966.
  He was a charter member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau and a member of the retired citizens of Mercer County and St. Catherine's church.
  Surviving are his wife; three sons, Thomas P. and James G., both of Reynolds, and Charles F. of Freeport; two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. MacDonald of Reynolds and Mrs. Kathleen Corrigan of Davenport; 27 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by a sister and three grandchildren.
  A memorial fund for St. Joseph's Cemetery of Preemption Township is being established in Mr. Conway's name.
