M. W. Conway rites To Be Here Thursday
Funeral services for Martin W. Conway, 87, Aledo, retired
farmer and livestock raiser, will be held at 9 a. m. Thursday in St.
Catherine's Catholic church, Aledo. The Rev. C. M. Meyer, pastor, will
officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Preemption. The
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday in the home of his
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Conway, Aledo.
Mr. Conway died at 8:30 a. m., Monday, Oct. 31, 1955 at an Aledo
Nursing home. He was born Nov. 7, 1867, in Preemption township, a son of
Joseph and Bridgett Ayers Conway. His education was received in rural
schools of Mercer county.
On Nov. 25, 1908, he married Margaret Meehan in Milan and the
couple farmed in Preemption township for several years before moving to
Aledo. She died in May, 1948. He was a member of St. Catherine's
Catholic church in Aledo.
Surviving are his son, Robert; two grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
