| Patrick J. Conway Sr.
GALVA, IL - Patrick J. Conway Sr. 71, of Galva, died at 4:00 AM,
Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus in
Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be on Monday, February 3, at 11:00 AM at
Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. John Burns will officiate. Visitation
will be a half hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial
will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, rural Matherville. Memorials may be
directed to the Illinois Natural History Survey.
Patrick was born on July 11, 1937 in Davenport, IA, the son of
Vincent and Catherine Walsh Conway. He married Cathie Sheahan on October
30, 1971 in Chicago. She survives as do a son, Patrick (and his fiancé'
Melissa Huffman) Conway Jr., of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in
death by his parents.
He graduated from Aledo High School and had served in the Army
National Guard. He was an insurance underwriter and broker for 35 years
and for the last 10 years was a USDA Plant and Wildlife Inspector. He
was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Galva. He had been a bug
collector since age 8 and had a personal collection of over 20,000
insect specimens, mostly of butterflies and moths that he had collected
from 26 states and 3 Canadian provinces.
