Mrs. Ellen Cranny.
The mother of Mrs. Jas. Barnes, Sr., departed this life May 7,
1903, at the ripe age of 92 years.
The deceased was born in the county Kilkeny, Ireland, and came to
this country a great many years ago, having lived in this community for
over 40 years. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her
disposition was kind and gentle, living a true Christian life.
The funeral services were held from St. Joseph's church May 9,
1903, Rev. T. J. McKinnery officiating. A large concourse of friends
were present to attest the high esteem to which the venerable old lady
was held. The pall bearers were the six sons of Mrs. James Barnes. The
remains were tenderly laid to rest in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in
Pre-emption township.
