Mrs. James Cullen

  Mrs. Kathryn Cullen's death occurred Saturday, March 12, 1949. She died suddenly at her home in Cass county, Iowa.
  Mrs. Cullen was the former Kathryn Barry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Barry. She was born December 25, 1878 in Clinton county, Iowa. Six months later the family moved to Adams county, where they resided thereafter. She was next to the youngest of a family of nine, three having died in infancy.
  She was united in marriage to James Cullen at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Massena in 1895 by Reverend Fr. J. Enright. The double ring ceremony was performed and witnessed by Patrick Barry and Ella Hickok.
Two sons, Bernard and Russell, were born to this union. Her son, Bernard, preceded her in death on February 22, 1937, also her husband, James, on July 13, 1948.
  She leaves to mourn, her son, Russell, his wife and three children, Edward, Anita and Kenneth; Mrs. Bernard Cullen and six children, Cyril, Theresa, Rita, Barbara, Philip and Bernard; two great-grandchildren, Kay and James Michael and two brothers, James of Creston and Michael of Corning. Two sisters Sarah and Anna, and one brother Patrick, preceded her in death.
  Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, 1949, at 9 a. m. at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Reno, Iowa. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Robert Walsh, assisted by Reverends D. Dower and James Mackin.
  Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. James Barry, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Barry of Creston; Mrs. Sarah Monaghan, Keota; Mrs. Lloyd Waters, Mr. and Mrs. Don Custer, Washington; Mrs. James McKenna and son, Kinross; Wilbur Barry, Mrs. Anna McGrath, Eugene Waters, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGrath of Omaha, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Barry of Corning.
  Other relatives and friends attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Plowman and Mr. and Mrs. William Sweeney, Creston; Mr. and Mrs. James Hatton, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lynam, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schepers, Mr. and Mrs. William Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Vince Hogan, Corning; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cullen, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Calkins, Orient; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Cullen, Lenox; Maurice Cullen, Mrs. Rosalia Tomsheck, Mrs. Mike Cullen, Omaha, Nebraska, and many other relatives and friends.
