Russell E. Cullen
Russell Edward Cullen, 66, passed away at the Cass County
hospital Aug. 24 in Atlantic, following a 8 month illness. He was born
June 24, 1907 on the same farm where he lived all his life. He had
undergone surgery July 5, and had been in the Nebraska Methodist
hospital in Omaha for several weeks and at home for ten days before his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn Barry Cullen and James
Cullen, and by his only brother, Bernard F. Cullen, in 1937.
Survivors include his wife, the former Evelyn Miller of Corning;
two sons, Edward of Minneapolis, Minn. And Kenneth of Cumberland; two
daughters, Anita Johnson of Council Bluffs and Kathleen, at home; five
grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew and Joan Johnson; Jennifer and Greg
Cullen; a sister-in-law, Christina Cullen; nieces and nephew, Cyril,
Sister Theresa, Rita, Barbara and Philip. One nephew, Bernard died in 1971.
Last rites were held Aug. 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's
Church, Reno, with Father James Wadsworth officiating. Concelebrants of
the mass were Monsignor Jas. Mackin, Father … and Father Frank Palmer.
Father Lawrence Burns was a concelebrant, and gave the homily.
Casketbearers were Hugh Anstey, Michael Moore, Cecil Calkins,
Bert Miller, Francis Cullen and Bill Cullen. Interment was at St.
Timothy's, Reno.
Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the last

Davenport; Margery, Helen and Bernard Moore, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs.
Stan Thomashek, Omaha; Mrs. Edith Nelson and Mary Belle Curry, Council Bluffs.
Mrs. And Mrs. Art Devine, Stuart; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Devine,
