Lyman Dahlgren
Lyman E. Dahlgren, 72, of New Windsor, died Tuesday, April 19,
2005, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church, New
Windsor, with the Rev. Jane McChesney officiating. Burial is in Rosedale
Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or Hope Lodge in
Rochester, Minn. Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, is in charge
of the arrangements.
He was born June 12, 1932, in Cambridge, a son of Oscar and
Lillian Scott Dahlgren. He graduated from Cambridge High School. He
married Myrna A. Tippett in February 1955. She died in 1986.
Lyman farmed in the New Windsor area all his life and sold feed
for D&D Farm Center in New Windsor. He was also employed at Admiral
in Galesburg from 1956 until retiring in 1992 and sold Christmas trees
on his farm in New Windsor for many years.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He was an avid sports
fan, enjoying the Cubs and Hawkeyes, and he especially loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and John
Shunick, New Windsor, Diane and Rex Allen-Baines, Carlsbad, Calif.; four
grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Lance and Sarah; longtime companion,
Rita Crawford, New Windsor; and sister, Marilyn Doxsee, Boone, Iowa. He
was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister.
