Ed. F. Davenport Passes
Well Known Citizen and Union Deputy
Edwin Franklin Davenport was born in Newark, New Jersey, Dec.
1, 1855 and has been a resident of Grinnell since 1878. He was united in
marriage with Julia C. Butrum, January 2, 1880. To this union were born
eight children, three have preceded him in death.
Last winter he suffered a siege of the flu and never regained his health.
His last long sickness dates from July 8. His suffering was most intense.
All that love and tender care could do was of no avail.
He passed quietly and peacefully away at 3:15 p. m. Nov. 28
leaving his life companion, four daughters, and a son to mourn his death.
Funeral services were conducted at the home 1216 Second Avenue,
November 29, at 1:30 by Rev. W. C. Wasser, of the Methodist church.
Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
