John DeBlock
John DeBlock, 90, of Viola, died Monday in Oak View Nursing
Home in Aledo after a short illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:30 in crummy
Funeral Home, Viola, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. John's Roman Catholic
Church in Viola. The Rev. C.M. Meyer will officiate with burial in St.
John's Cemetery in Viola.
A Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at the funeral
home where visitation was after 12 noon today.
Mr. DeBlock was born March 26, 1881 in Westdorf, Holland, a son
of Francis and Matalie DeBlock. He received his education in Holland and
came to America at the age of 18 and had since live in the Preemption
and Viola area. He resided in Viola the past 63 years.
He had farmed his entire life.
He married Bertha Johnson, March 3, 1908, in Moline. She preceded
him in death on October 9, 1961.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of Viola, and was a
50 year member and past director of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Merrill Myers of Viola; a son
Edward of Aledo; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
