Mrs. Natalie De Block
Funeral services for Mrs. Natalie Rauschaert DeBlock were held
on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church, southwest of
Preemption, with Rev. J. T. Shields officiating and burial was in St.
Joseph's cemetery.
"Grandma" DeBlock passed away at the home of her son, Joseph,
two miles east of Preemption, Oct. 3, 1938, at 10:25 p.m. at the age of
87 years. She had been bedfast only a short time. The deceased was born
September 28, 1851 in Holland. In 1875 she was united in marriage with
Francis DeBlock at Westdorpe, Netherlands. To this union four sons were
born, one having died in Holland.
The family came to the United States from Holland, October 28,
1907 and settled near South Bend, Ind. In a short time they came to the
Preemption community which has since been their home. Mr. DeBlock passed
away Jan. 13, 1916 in Preemption.
Three sons, John of Viola, Joseph and Henry of Preemption are
left to cherish the memory of a good mother. Six grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were John Keller, Dan Begyn, Oscar Grundstrom,
Charles Stropes, Henry Spengler and Bill Zwicker.
Relatives and friends from a distance here to attend the funeral were.

Mrs. Joe Maes, Mrs. Cyril DeBruycher, Mrs. John Snyder, Mrs. C. J.
Coppens of Moline; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice DeBlock and sons of Silvis; Mrs.
Fred Johnson of Milan.
