Eva Degen
Eva Brennan Degen, daughter of John and Helen Daxon Brennan of
Reynolds, died on Tuesday, June 8, 1999, in Virginia Beach, Va., at 101
years of age.
She was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church,
Preemption and St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Matherville. She graduated
from Mercy Hospital, Davenport, as a registered nurse in 1929 and
married Philip Degen of Davenport in 1936.
The Degens moved to Virginia Beach during WWII and returned on
many occasions to the Quad Cities area to visit family and friends. On
one return visit, Mrs. Degen donated a stained glass window, in memory
of the Brennan family, to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Matherville,
during the pastorate of Father Edward Harkrader.
She is buried alongside of her husband in Princess Anne Memorial
Park, Virginia Beach and is survived by her daughter, Helen E. Novelli
of Virginia Beach, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
