Anna Donahue

Death claimed a pioneer of Adams county with the passing of Mrs. Hugh Donahue who died at 10 a.m. Monday after a long illness due largely to old age and complications. Mrs. Donahue is the grandmother of Mrs. Carl Lyons and had made her home with the Lyons family for a number of years preceding her death. For the past year she has failed and during that last six months has been confined most of the time to her room and bed. She passed away peacefully Monday morning thus closing 56 years in the community which she loved, and in years gone by had served beautifully and well. Funeral services were held from the St. Patrick Catholic church Wednesday morning, conducted by the Rev. Father M. J. Powers and burial was made in Calvary cemetery.
Anna Katherine Hein, daughter of John and Lucy Hein, was born in New Buffalo, Michigan, October 3, 1850, and the family migrated to Plattsmouth, Nebr., at an early date. She was married to Hugh Donahue 56 years ago. Her husband preceded her in death seventeen years ago. Fifty-six years ago they came to Corning to make their home. Before sickness and infirmity laid its hand on her, Mrs. Donovan was known and loved as a devoted Christian woman, a loyal friend and neighbor and one whose services could always be depended upon in any good work.
She is survived by two daughters. Mrs. M. Poff and Mrs. Frank Taylor of Omaha, her granddaughter, Mrs. Carl Lyons who spent much of her girlhood in the Donahue home; a sister, Mrs. Henry Soppe of Council Bluffs and two brothers, Martin and George Hein, the former living in Oregon and the latter in Oklahoma; also seven other grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was 85 years, 3 months and 3 days at the time of her death.
