Ralph Downey
Ralph W. Downey, 50, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., formerly of Edgington,
died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Shands Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, at the Edgington
Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be the Drury-Reynolds Cemetery,
Drury Township. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly
Funeral Home, Milan. Memorials may be made to the American Heart
Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
Ralph was born Jan. 20, 1955, in Muscatine, Iowa, a son of Wilson and
Evelyn Joens Downey. He married Gwen Pearson, Jan. 16, 1982, in
Jacksonville.
He graduated from Rockridge High School.
Ralph was a talented woodworker and a cabinetmaker by trade. He was a
member of the Union and enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Survivors include his sons, Keith and Michael Downey, Jacksonville;
brothers and sisters (and their spouses), Robert Andresen, Fla., Ranelle
Hoffman, Edgington, Robby (John) Clark, Coal Valley, Rosie (John)
McManus, Edgington and Rebecca Downey, East Moline. He was preceded in
death by his parents and a brother, Ron Andresen.
