Charles Eich
Charles Eich, 79, Halbur farmer, died at his home at 9 p.m.
Thursday after an illness of several months. He passed away on the farm
one mile east and one-half mile south of Halbur where he was born and
spent his entire life.
Solemn requiem high mass will be read at 9 a.m. Monday at St.
Augustine's … celebrant will be the Rev. L. J. Greieman, pastor of the
church. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery.
The body is resting at the Twit Funeral Home, where the rosary
will be prayed at 8 p.m. Saturday and by the Holy Name Society of St.
Augustine's parish, led by Fr. Greieman at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Eich, son of Frank and Catherine Walterscheid Eich, was born
Nov. 27, 1878, at Halbur. He was married to Anna Reinart April 30, 1907,
at St. Augustine's Church, Halbur, with the Rev. J. B. Bauemier officiating.
Mr. Eich died May 27, 1951.
Mr. Eich is survived by 10 children: Alvin Eich, Halbur; Sr. Mary
Ricarda, O.S.F. (Alvira), Midlothian, Ill.; Mrs. Adolph (Evelyn) Langel,
Templeton; Mrs. Leo (Lucy) Irlmeier, Wadena, Minn.; Ray Eich, Halbur;
Mrs. George V. (Helen) Eischeid, Halbur; Mrs. Jerome (Estelle)
Schenkelberg, Carroll; Mrs. John (Kathryn) Loughran, Mt. Carmel; Herbert
Eich, Halbur, and Mrs. Lawrence (Mildred) Sporrer, Manning. He also
leaves 41 grandchildren.
Mr. Eich was the last of a family of seven children. Besides his
parents, his wife, and two
daughters, Loretta, who died at the age of 16 and Ann in infancy, he was
preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Henry Eich, and
three sisters, Mrs. John (Catherine) Elgroth, Miss Elizabeth Eich and
Sr. Mary Lucy. O.S.F.
He was a member of St. Augustine's Church and the Holy Name
Society of the parish.
