George V. Eischeid
Halbur - George Vernon Eischeid, 48, of Halbur died at 12:15
a.m. Sunday, March 16, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. He had been
in failing health for the last four years.
Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St.
Augustine Church here by the Rev. V. E. Kollasch. Ehlers-Gerken Post No.
694, American Legion, of Arcadia will form an honor guard, and interment
will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll starting at
7 p.m. Monday. There will be recitations of the rosary Monday at 8 and
8:45 p.m. and on Tuesday at 4, 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. The 7:30 rosary will
be by members of the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Eischeid was a lifelong Halbur resident. A son of George and
Mathilda Olbertz Eischeid, he was born here July 24, 1920. He received
his education at Halbur and was a member of St. Augustine Church. He
served in World War II, and was employed at the Coop Elevator in Halbur.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Duane
(Diane) Brant, Glidden; Donald, with the U.S. Navy Seabees, Omaha;
Shirley, Vernon, Randy, Gene and Geralyn, at home; also three brothers,
Stanley of Bayard, Gerry and Walter, Guthrie Center; and three sisters,
Mrs. Don (Aure1ia) Parr and Mrs. Ray (Pearl) Wittenmeyer, Cedar Rapids,
and Mrs. John (Mercedes) Schloss, Strawberry Point.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas J. Eischeid, on May
23, 1968, and by his parents.
