Louis Eischeid
Mass of the Christian burial for Louis Eischeid of Route 3,
Carroll, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 1993, at St.
Augustine Church in Halbur with the Rev. Paul Kelly as celebrant.
Mr. Eischeid, 65, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1993, at Mercy Hospital
Medical Center in Des Moines.
Lectors for the Mass will be Lisa Wessling and Denny Langel. Gift
bearers will be Sara, Jared and Brooke Eischeid and Tonya Wessling. Mass
servers will be Trevor Theulen, Jason Eischeid and Justin Hoffman.
Eucharistic minister will be Darlene Bruch. Ushers will be Paul Bruch
and John Potthoff.
Casket bearers will be R.T. Schreck, Tim Eischeid, Gary Eischeid,
Dave Sextro, Don Busenbark, Mike Eischeid, Keith Langel and Don Eischeid.
Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur, with military
honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.
Friends called after 2:30 this afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in
Carroll, where a rosary was recited at 3 p.m. There will be a vigil
service at 7:30 by St. Augustine Parish and a rosary at 8:15 tonight at
the funeral home.
He was born June 29, 1928, at Carroll, a son of Theodore Sr. and
Anna (Wittrock) Eischeid. He spent most of his life in the Halbur
community, attending schools there.
Mr. Eischeid enlisted in the Air Force in December 1950.
He and Irene Langel were married June 3, 1952, at Sacred Heart
Church in Templeton. After getting married, Mr. Eischeid served at Lowry
AFB in Denver, Colo., and Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nev. The Eischeids
returned to the Halbur area to farm after he was discharged in November 1953.
Mr. Eischeid retired in April 1991 after developing chronic renal
failure and had been receiving peritoneal dialysis treatment at home.
He was a member of St. Augustine Parish of Halbur and Ehlers-Gerken
Post 694 of the American Legion of Arcadia.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of Carroll: eight children and
their spouses, Joyce Wessling and her husband, Gene, of Carroll, Scott
Eischeid and his wife, JoAnn, of Roscoe, Ill., Al Eischeid and his wife,
Lisa, of Carroll, Steve Eischeid and his wife, Joleen, of Breda, Cheri
Theulen and her husband, Randy, of Halbur, Sue Hoffman and her husband,
Mark, of Carroll, Mary Eischeid of Ames and Jean Eischeid and her
husband, Jim, of Carroll; 20 grandchildren; two brothers, Hilbert
Eischeid and his wife, Aggie, of Manning and Ted Eischeid and his wife,
Jeanette, of Carroll; six sisters, Lorine Sextro of Denison, Florence
Gephart of Carroll, Louise Boeckman and her husband, Cecil, of Early,
Irma Fast and her husband, Pete, of Bingham Lake, Minn., Matilda
Busenbark of Omaha, Neb., and Marie Schreck and her husband, Elmer, of
Templeton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Eischeid of Spencer and Darlene
Riesberg and her husband, Don, of Halbur; and his mother-in-law, Evelyn
Langel, of Templeton.
Mr. Eischeid was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Alvin and Leonard Eischeid; and his father-in-law. Adolph Langel.
