Mass of the Christian burial for Theodore "Ted"
Eischeid Jr. of rural Halbur will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 11, at
St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur.
Mr. Eischeid Jr., 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at his home
after a long fight with cancer.
The Rev. Dale Reiff will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Ben
Sturm. Gift bearers will be Katie Eischeid, Alysa Flood, Caleigh Flood
and Jared Eischeid. Servers will be Tyler and Travis Eischeid.
Eucharistic ministers will be Cheri Theulen, Sandy Loeffelholz and
Annette Wellington.
Casket bearers will be Andy Eischeid, Neal Eischeid, Lucas
Eischeid, Joe Sturm, Nick Eischeid, Chris Eischeid and William Eischeid
Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be Shane Homan, Jason Eischeid, Kristin
Eischeid, Tess Sturm, Ryan Eischeid, Jeremy Eischeid and Tina Phillippi.
Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery at Halbur with military
honors by the Carroll American Legion and Manning VFW.
Visitation starts at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m.
and St. Augustine Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.
Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.
A son of Theodore Sr. and Anna (Wittrock) Eischeid, he was born
June 28, 1924, at Halbur and spent his life in the community. He
attended St. Augustine School at Halbur and Carroll High School.
He entered the Army in January 1945 and served in the military
police in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably
discharged in June 1947 at the rank of sergeant.
He and Jeanette Hinners were married July 30, 1947, at St.
Augustine Church.
Mr. Eischeid was a grain and livestock farmer. The Eischeids
spent their married life on a farm two miles northeast of Halbur.
He was a member of St. Augustine Parish and Holy Name Society,
Carroll American Legion and Manning VFW and was past director and
president of the Halbur Co-op Board. He coached Halbur Little League for
eight years and was a Halbur 4-H Leader for nine years. He enjoyed
playing cards with friends and sporting events, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, of Halbur; seven children:
Michael Eischeid of Manning, Bill Eischeid of Trenton, N.J., Barbara
Sturm and husband Bob of Omaha, Neb., Terry Eischeid and wife Janice of
Nocona, Texas, Ted Eischeid III and wife Julie of Halbur, Tim Eischeid
of Carroll and LeeAnn Flood and husband Fitz of Carroll; 22
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four
sisters: Louise Boeckman and husband Cecil of Sac City, Irma Fast of
Windom, Minn., Florence Gephart of Carroll and Marie Schreck of Carroll;
and sisters- and brothers-in-law: Mary Eischeid of Spencer, Irene
Eischeid of Halbur and Darlene and Don Riesberg of Halbur.
Mr. Eischeid was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson,
Dillon Eischeid; four brothers: Leonard, Hilbert, Louis, and Alvin
Eischeid; two sisters: Lorene Sextro and Tillie Busenback; and his
parents-in-law, Art and Loretta Hinners.
