Helen Espenhover

  Mass of the Christian burial for Helen Espenhover of Carroll will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.
  Mrs. Espenhover, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
  The Rev. James McCormick will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Dave Ramsey. Gift bearers will be Mrs. Espenhover's grandchildren. Servers will be Travis Espenhover and Mitch Rupiper. Communion minister will be Tom Espenhover. The casket will be moved to the church at 8 a.m.
  Casket bearers will be Mrs. Espenhover's sons: Duane, David, Joe Ir., Steve, Tom, Jerry and Paul Espenhover; and a grandson, Steve Hinners.
  Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony Nursing Home and Hospice.
  A daughter of John R. and Elizabeth (Von Bonn) Turner, she was born May 24, 1916, at Petersburg, Neb. She and Joseph H. Espenhover were married May 2, 1939, at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville, Neb., with the Rev. A.S. Kluthe officiating.
  Mrs. Espenhover was a homemaker and worked many years at the Red Carpet restaurant in Carroll. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling and cooking.
  She and her husband, Joe, were married nearly 65 years.
  Survivors include her husband; 13 children and their spouses: Judy and Arden Hinners of Arcadia, Duane and June Espenhover of Kearney, Neb., David and Maxine Espenhover of Alma, Neb., Jane and Donald Eischeid of Halbur, Shirley and Kenny Vogl of Carroll, Helen and Richard Hinners of Manning, Joe Jr. and Jane Espenhover of Carroll, Steve Espenhover of Carroll, Carol and Dave Ramsey of Templeton, Cindy and Scott Heinrichs of Breda, Tom and Julie Espenhover of Carroll, Jerry Espenhover of Carroll and Paul and Cindy Espenhover of Carroll; 44 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five brothers: Joe Turner of Redwood City, Calif., LaVern Turner of Stayton, Ore., Sylvester Turner and his wife, Meg, of Eudora, Ark., Ed Turner of Cedar Rapids and Julius Turner and his wife, Bonnie, of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters: Delores Weihn and her husband, Dan, of Carroll and Darlene Roberts and her husband, Ed of Goldsboro, N.C.
  Mrs. Espenhover was preceded in death by her parents; four children: Eugene Espenhover and Debra Espenhover and two in infancy, Mary Espenhover and Gerald Espenhover; two sisters: Marie Espenhover and her husband Harry, and Betty Jo Turner; two brothers: Leonard Turner and his wife, Inna Marie, and Johnnie Turner; and two sisters-in-law: Peggy Turner and Jane Turner.
