Steve Espenhover

Carroll

  Mass of the Christian burial for Steve Espenhover of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.
  Mr. Espenhover, 52, died Friday, Sept. 8, at Omaha, Neb.
  The Rev. James McCormick will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Tom Espenhover. Servers will be Travis Espenhover and Maggie Espenhover. Gift bearers will be Mr. Espenhover's godchildren: Allison Heinrich, Heidi Mart, Chris Hinners and Jason Hinners; and his grandson, Ethan Espenhover. Eucharistic minister will be Tom Espenhover.
  Casket bearers will be Mr. Espenhover's brothers: Duane, Dave, Joe, Tom, Jerry and Paul Espenhover. Ehlers-Gerken American Legion Post and Jeff Adams, Tracey Norton, Sam Lewis, Dutch Kuttner, Craig White, Dave Rabideaux and Bruce Hollingsworth will form an honor guard.
  Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery at Roselle.
  Visitation starts at 2:30 p.m., a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
  A son of Joseph H. and Helen (Turner) Espenhover, he was born Dec. 16, 1953, at Carroll, attended St. Mary High School at Colorado Springs, Colo., and earned an associate degree at Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll.
  He served in the Army from 1972 to 1977.
  He was employed by Florence Nursing Home in Omaha, Neb.
  Mr. Espenhover was a former member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working outdoors and his dog Charlie.
  Survivors include a son, Adam Espenhover, and his wife, Holly, of Italy; a daughter, Ashleigh Espenhover, of Des Moines; a grandson, Ethan Espenhover, of Italy; six brothers: Duane Espenhover and wife June of Kearney, Neb., David Espenhover and wife Maxine of Orleans, Neb., Joe Espenhover Jr. and wife Jane of Carroll, Tom Espenhover and wife Julie of Carroll, Jerry Espenhover of Carroll and Paul Espenhover and wife Cindy of Carroll; and six sisters: Judy Hinners and husband Arden of Carroll, Jane Eischeid and husband Donald of Halbur, Shirley Vogel and husband Kenny of Carroll, Helen Hinners and husband Richard of Halbur, Carol Ramsey and husband Dave of Templeton and Cindy Heinrichs and husband Scott of Breda.
  Mr. Espenhover was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Eugene and Gerard Espenhover; two sisters: Debra and Mary Espenhover; a niece, Amy Hinners; and a nephew, Eugene Hinners.
