Farwell Dies At 65 After Long Illness
Orville Sheldon Farwell, 65, died Monday, Dec. 24, 1956, at
the Mercer County hospital, where he had been a patient two days
following a long illness.
He was born Jan. 21, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Farwell.
He received his education in the schools of Fulton, Ill. On March 4,
1909 he married Miss Hannah Armstrong of Clinton, Iowa. They farmed near
Cordova until eight years ago when they moved to Millersburg, where they
lived for two years until moving into their present home southeast of Aledo.
He was a member of the Bethel Baptist church of Coe township, and
a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Ralph of Millersburg; Walter
of Port Byron and Wayne of Joy; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Mae Mack of
Reynolds and 12 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Fred of Sterling; John of
Morrison and Ora of Challote, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Rick of
Milan; Mrs. Luella Timmerman of Thomson, Ill.; Mrs. Minnie Pringle of
Erie, Ill.; and Mrs. Mabel Stafford of Oregon City, Ore. His stepmother,
Mrs. Mary Farwell of Clinton; three step-brothers and three step-sisters
also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 27 at 1:30 p. m.
from the Reiser Funeral home in Aledo with Rev. C. K. Dean, pastor of
the Cordova Baptist church officiating.
Pallbearers will be Russell Dean, Wilbur Guthrie and Clarence
Rusch of Aledo; Wilton Cain and Arnold McLaughlin of Cordova, and
Stanley George of Albany. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Simpson of
Hillsdale, Ben Girkin of Rock Island and Earl Robinson of Hampton, Ill.
