Rose Ferneding
Templeton - Rite of the Christian Burial for Rose Ferneding,
88, of Templeton, who died Wednesday. February 8, at the Manning General
Hospital, will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, February 10, at Sacred
Heart church in Templeton with the Rev. Joseph Steib as celebrant.
Ken Halbur will be lector and great-grandchildren, Kim Sextro,
Jennifer Voge, Gary and Doug Ferneding will be gift-bearers. Music will
be by the Sacred Heart Men's Choir with Mrs. Vernon Irlbeck as
accompanist. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Serving as
casketbearers will be grandsons: Lonnie Ferneding, Gene Ferneding, Jim
Ferneding, Mike Ferneding, Mark Ferneding and Don Ferneding.
Rosaries will be recited at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday at the
Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Mrs. Ferneding is survived by two sons: Alvin Ferneding and his
wife, Rita, Templeton, and Paul Ferneding and his wife, Lillian,
Carroll; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs.
Henry (Mary) Fangman, Redwood Falls, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters
and two brothers.
Mrs. Ferneding was born June 17, 1894, near Templeton, a daughter
of John and Angela Wegman Schlichte. She attended schools in Templeton.
On October 14, 1919, she was married to Frank Ferneding at
Templeton. They farmed in the Templeton area for many years. He died on
June 10, 1959. She made her home in Templeton until entering the Manning
Plaza Nursing Home in 1976.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton, the
Christian Mothers and the Ladies Guild.
