John Ferneding
Templeton - John Ferneding, 82, of Templeton died about 11:30
a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Manning General Hospital, Manning. He had
been ill for six months.
Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred
Heart Church here by the Rev. Eugene Schumacher. Burial will be in the
parish cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion and V.F.W.
Posts of Manning. Arrangements are in charge of the Ohde Funeral Home,
Manning, where there will be a Scripture service at 8 p.m. Monday,
followed by a rosary at 8:30 by the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1972
of Templeton.
Mr. Ferneding farmed before retiring and moving into Templeton in
1948. A son of Henry and Mary Olberding Ferneding, he was born June 25,
1890, at Templeton and attended Sacred Heart School here. He served in
World War I. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of
Columbus at Templeton and the American Legion at Manning.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rose Ferneding of
Templeton and Mrs. Margaret Ferneding of Carroll; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ferneding was preceded in death by his sisters, Mrs.
Catherine Kettmann and Anna Ferneding, and brothers, Joe, Henry and
Frank Ferneding; also by a sister and two brothers in infancy.
