Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Ferneding
Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Ferneding, 90, died Thursday. April 3,
at the Carroll Health Center where she had been a resident since 1973.
Liturgy of the Word will be read at 1 p.m. Saturday. April 5, at
St. Lawrence church with the Rev. Lawrence McCarty officiating. Burial
will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul and Alvin Ferneding, Harold Willenborg.
Dick Ricke, E.C. Pudenz and LeRoy Reinart.
Because of Holy Week, Mass of the Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, at St. Lawrence church.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3
p.m. Friday. Rosaries will be recited at 3:30 and 8 p.m. (parish) Friday.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Art (Loretta) Reinart,
Carroll; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers:
Pete, Glendale, Calif.; Bill, Burke, S.D., and Martin Beckers, Flint,
Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Volmer, Storm Lake, and Mrs. Gertrude King, Omaha.
She was preceded by her parents, husband in 1953, a son, Henry;
four brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Ferneding was born Feb. 12, 1890, at Bellwood, Neb., a daughter of
Winand and Katherine Moes Beckers. She spent her early life in the
Bellwood area and later on moved with her parents to Gregory, S.D. On
May 31, 1911, she was married to Joseph Ferneding at St. Joseph's church in Gregory.
After their marriage, they farmed near Gregory until 1933 when
they moved to Storm Lake. In 1948, they moved to Carroll.
She was a member of St. Lawrence parish and the Ladies Guild.
